Field Trips

Book a field trip to the Building for Kids! Designed for kids of all ages, field trips include hands-on, interactive experiences, while encouraging self-directed discovery, exploration, and creativity. Field trips must be booked at least 1 week in advance and are for groups of 15 or more students.

Choose between a Museum Explorers field trip or upgrade to a specialty experience!

Museum Explorers

$8 per student/Chaperones are free

Get outside of the classroom and experience the power of play-based learning with our two floors of interactive exhibits! During a Museum Explorers field trip, you’ll enjoy access to all of our exhibits, STEM challenges in The Lab, and art activities in The Studio!

Specialty Experience

$10 per student/Chaperones are free

Enhance your visit with a specialty field trip experience designed to explore a specific topic in greater depth. Our current offering, Pottery Explorers, gives students exclusive access to our pottery wheel and assortment of tools as they create clay masterpieces.

Each field trip experience can be tailored to your grade level. Field trips designed for PreK – 4th grade take place in the morning, while those designed for 5th – 8th grade take place in the afternoon. Field trip registration for the 2026-27 school year is coming soon!

Additional Information

  • Lunchrooms are available and free with a field trip reservation. You can add a lunch (25 minutes) when booking your field trip with the calendar above. Space is limited.
  • Our quiet space (The Space Station) is located on the 2nd floor on the way to the Mielke Family Theater. Sensory resources, such as calm down kits, decision boards, times, and active seating options, are available throughout the museum. Ask Welcome Desk for more information.
