During every visit to the Building for Kids, you’ll find ongoing activities happening in our Innovation Lab, Studio, and other spaces around the museum. We also have a few pre-registered, facilitated workshops open to families every month. Check out some of our upcoming workshops below!
Welcome Summer Series
Join us for a week full of special programs at the museum as we kick off summer! We’ll have special programs that are free with museum admission (free for members) twice a day, every day from June 3 – June 9. Check out the list of programs below. No pre-registration required.
Saturday, June 3
- 10am – Coding with Ozobots – explore our tiny robots that read color as code

- 10am – Cardboard Creations – see what you can build out of large pieces of cardboard

- 10am – 3D Doodle Pens – create a 3-dimensional shape with our 3D Doodle Pens
- 2pm – Printmaking – make paper with our printing press
Wednesday, June 7
- 10am – Museum Scavenger Hunt – search the museum from top to bottom to complete our scavenger hunt
- 1pm – Pixel Art – plot points on graph paper to create your own art piece
Thursday, June 8
- 10am – Flying Machines – build a machine and test whether or not it flies in our wind tunnel
- 2pm – Shadow Shapes – build shapes and use their shadows to create artwork
Friday, June 9
- 10am – Pottery Wheel – create your own pottery to take home on our pottery wheels
- 2pm – Pottery Wheel – create your own pottery to take home on our pottery wheels
Ongoing programs
Pottery Fridays
Join us in the Studio from 2 – 4pm for Pottery Fridays! Come make your own creation out of clay on our pottery wheels with out BFK educators. All skill levels welcome.

Music with Bernardo
Come jam out with our visiting musician, Bernardo, on Fridays from 11am – 1pm! We’ll explore all different kinds of instruments.
