Community Initiatives

The Building for Kids is more than a museum. Check out some of the ways we’re leveraging our expertise in play-based learning beyond our building!

A Play-Based Community

The Building for Kids leverages our knowledge, philosophy, and capacities to implement play-based environments in spaces around our community. We believe play is a powerful tool for learning, connection, and well-being. By creating opportunities for meaningful play wherever children live, learn, and gather, we help foster a stronger, more connected community.

Curiosity Classrooms

Curiosity Classrooms are multisensory spaces designed to introduce elementary students to STEAM learning through hands-on exploration. The classrooms feature several themed learning areas that encourage students and educators to explore a variety of topics together, using inquiry, experimentation, and open-ended discovery to guide learning.

Fox Valley Family Friends

Fox Valley Family Friends is a program designed to help bring families together at the earliest stages of their journeys. Through casual meetups, shared experiences, and opportunities to build friendships with other families in a similar life stage, this program helps parents find community and support in their early days of parenthood.
